International Indie Spotlight: Histheory

Who are you?
I am Charles, using the pseudonym Ryve Gretur, and composing under the project name Histheory.

Tell us about your career so far.
I started when I was 16, by playing the guitar. Then, a year later, I played around on FL Studio and fell in love with music production. I have been off and on but, starting Summer 2023, I decided to push my project to the next level and trust myself to put the best music I can out into the world.

I have released singles and an album (“The Untold Journey” – released November 2023). I am proud to have collaborated with Drunk and Lonely, Steam Slicer and Jay El Dee!

How would you describe your sound to a four-year-old?
You see the storybooks your mom or dad are reading to you before going to bed? My sound is basically the same thing but with no words. Just close your eyes, get lost in the melodies and imagine whatever you want. This is you the hero, this is your story, anything can happen, there is no limit.

What’s your favorite album of all time?
A bit of an impossible question to answer honestly. I go all over the place with my tastes, which is also represented in my songs. If I have to name one, I currently would pick “Zeit” from Rammstein. They are a band I’ve loved for more than 20 years, and this last album impressed me.

What does musical success look like to you?
Having an identity, a specific sound that people recognize and like to go back to. And living out of this passion. I am not aiming to be rich, but being able to do music as a full-time job is a dream.

What is next for you?
I am finishing up my second album, called “The Great Unknown”. It is a space journey that will tell an entire story, but as always I invite everyone to sink in and imagine whatever they want. (Editors note: “The Great Unknown” releases in August! Pre-order on Bandcamp here!)

Next, I will be back with collaborations and I’m super excited about this!!
