On March 7th, St. Joseph MO alt-country rockers Drunk and Lonely released their debut EP “A Six-Pack of Sadness and a Hard Shot of Truth”. Lyrically, the album is a tribute to the beer-soaked sadness of classic country and tells the story of a drunken country singer on a downward spiral. It’s a satire, and a love letter, and a character study from the mind of vocalist/acoustic guitarist Drew Nold. Sonically, it covers more ground than you’d expect – from straight-up country to indie folk to alternative rock – showcasing the incredible talent of lead-guitarist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Josh Huffman.
And well…I could keep talking about it…but it would be better if you just listened to it. Whether you love country music, or you hate it, or you’re completely indifferent…I still think there might be something here for you.
Bottoms up. 🍻
