Who ARE you?
I am StarUnie (star-you-knee) and I love, love, love dubstep. I enjoy all EDM but love to produce, listen to, dance to…. dubstep.
Tell us about your career so far.
It all started a few years ago. I have a strong foundation in music theory and really give it to my grandparents for getting me involved in music at a young age. Also, to my high school choir teacher for being so hard on us all about music theory and progress.
My biggest milestones so far would have to be being booked for out of state shows in Flint, MI and Omaha, NE. Also, lots of smaller shows in my home state. In addition to that I have produced over 60 tracks and have produced three albums and many singles. One of my songs has almost 23k listens on SoundCloud.
How would you describe your sound to a four-year-old?
Beep boop. 🤖 😂
Now elaborate on that…if you’d like.
Angry robot noises! No but honestly complex sounds that make you feel some sort of way.
What’s your favorite album? Or an album (or any piece of music) that’s special to you?
Other than dubstep I love classical music. One of my favorites is Mozart’s ‘Requiem’. I had the opportunity to sing this in Varsity Choir in high school and with the Omaha Symphony. Just such a beautiful composition.
What does musical success look like to you?
Changing the world through music. What I really long and hope for. I am part of the EDM community and have never felt more at peace with myself and the world. I’ve witnessed so much love…. I just want that for the rest of the world and for my daughter. Extend PLUR (Peace, Love, Unity and Respect) beyond the shows and festivals and into your daily life.
What is next for you?
I will be performing at Balance Music Festival in Waterloo, IA in August alongside some very talented artists. I self-release and you never really know what I’m going to drop next!
